There is nothing more frustrating for any couples that are trying to start a family than constant failure. What is even more disheartening is that whilst trying to put things right sexual intercourse begins to take on a regimented routine, which can lead to it becoming a chore rather than something they should be enjoying. The simple truth is that couples never give a thought to infertility until it hits them smack in the face. Months can turn into years and it’s only at this point do they even think they may be have a problem. Even then they can make excuses things like; “we were both too tired” “I had a hard day at work” anything rather than face the truth. It is only with the right education that couples are able to recognize the symptoms of infertility.
For a woman one of the most obvious symptoms of infertility will simply be that she can’t get pregnant. This however will not become apparent until they have been trying for quite a while with no success. An accurate diagnosis of infertility will involve quite a few tests at a doctor’s clinic, but there are a few signs that you can be aware of before you go for a check-up.
Irregular or missed menstrual periods that occur over several months can mean that the woman is not ovulating. The inability to ovulate can be caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome or luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome. PCOS is when the ovaries form water filled cysts that stop the creation and release of the egg. LUFS is when abnormalities in the follicle rupture and stop the egg that was to be released from getting into the abdominal cavity at the time of ovulation.
Pain in the pelvic region can also be one of the symptoms of infertility. Constant pain may be due to an infection, fibroid tumors or endometriosis all of which can affect fertilization.
Charting your basal body temperature can tell a woman a lot about her chances of conceiving. Simply put this is the lowest body temperature achieved when at rest. When a woman ovulates her BBT can rise by at least one half a degree Celsius. If your temperature is always low it could mean your not ovulating maybe due to a hormonal imbalance.
Checking the quality of you cervical mucus is another way of looking out for symptoms of infertility. Cervical mucus should not be thick when you’re fertile. It should be clear and watery. Thick and translucent mucus could be a sign of hormonal imbalances that are causing your inability to conceive.
There is no sure fire way of knowing if a male is unable to fertilize an egg unless, he is impotent, can’t sustain an erection or is unable to ejaculate. The most accurate way of knowing if the male is infertile is by conducting tests on the semen and an examination of his reproductive organs.
